About this data
This database provides annual estimates of permanent migration inflows to OECD countries by category of migration. The estimates are mainly based on the number of newly granted permits/visas issued to foreign citizens, provided by NSOs or Ministerial statistical services.New permanent migrants are classified into 5 categories of migration depending on the grounds for approval of their permit/visa (labour, accompanying family of workers, family reunification, humanitarian reasons and other national cases).In addition, the database provides annual estimates of the number of individuals who migrated long-term under a free-mobility agreement based on alternative sources.
