About this data
This database provides estimates of annual temporary migration flows to OECD countries. The estimates are mainly based on the number of newly granted permits/visas issued to foreign citizens, provided by NSOs or Ministerial statistical services. Temporary migration flows are classified into 6 groups: international students newly registered in a tertiary education programme; migrants participating in a work-travel exchange programs; intra-corporate transferees; trainees; seasonal foreign workers; and other foreign workers participating in national temporary migration programmes. Note that selected temporary movements are excluded from our estimates of temporary migration inflows. These are: tourists; crews; persons in transit; business visitors; diplomats; journalists; job-search visa holders; religious workers; sportspersons; artists; performers; posted workers. Short-term movements under free-movement agreements are not included in this dataset. Asylum seekers are not included in this data set. See the following tables. Ukrainians under the Temporary Protection Directive are not included in this data set. Further information: International Migration Outlook
